Drayton, Kathy - Author Biography

Kathy Drayton is best known as the writer and director of the award winning documentary, Girl in a Mirror: A Portrait of Carol Jerrems. She is a Communications graduate of the University of Technology, Sydney, and for many years worked for SBS Television as an editor of independent experimental and narrative short films, and occasionally made them herself. She wrote, directed and edited an experimental documentary, Eat (1988), and a short narrative, Beach Story (2001) both of which won awards and were screened in numerous film festivals. Amongst the short films she has edited are the critically acclaimed The Illustrated Auschwitz (Jackie Farkas, 1989), Margaret Starr: A Fall from Grace (Annabelle Murphy, 1995) and Bartleby (Miro Bilbrough, 2001). She is currently working as a freelance writer, editor and director, filling the gaps with teaching and script assessing, and continuing to write and develop new projects in the remaining moments of her day.
