Thompson, Lara - Author Biography

Lara Thompson is a freelance writer and lecturer whose research focuses primarily on the relationship between cinema and photography. She recently completed my PhD thesis entitled “A Photographic Gaze: Temporality, Emotion, and the Value of the Image in Contemporary Cinema”, supervised by Prof. Laura Mulvey at Birkbeck College, University of London. Thompson is currently writing a book on the aesthetic and emotional impact of light in film for the series Cinema Aesthetics (forthcoming, Manchester University Press).
