Keyan Tomaselli is Director and Professor, Centre for Culture, Comunication and Media Studies, University of KwaZulu-Natal, Durban, South Africa. He is author of Appropriating Images: the Semiotics of Visual Representation (1999) and The Cinema of Apartheid (1998) and was a co-writer of the White Paper on Film (1996), for the South African government.
